Barista Source Academy is a trauma-informed workforce training program that equips individuals with intellectual disabilities with real-world job skills in the coffee and hospitality industry. It promotes independence, confidence, and community engagement through inclusive learning.
2. Who is this program for?
The program serves teens and young adults (ages 14–24) with diagnosed intellectual or developmental disabilities who are seeking:
- Job readiness and vocational skills
- Social-emotional growth
- Pathways to employment and self-sufficiency
3. What will participants learn?
Training includes:
- Barista and café operations (drink preparation, cleaning, safety)
- Customer service and communication skills
- Cash handling and workplace etiquette
- Resume writing, interview preparation, and life skills
4. Is the program inclusive and accessible?
Yes. Barista Source Academy uses universal design for learning to ensure materials and instruction are accessible to students of all ability levels. Lessons are tailored to meet each participant’s needs.
5. How is the training delivered?
Training includes:
- Online learning modules
- Hands-on skill-building
- Optional in-person job shadowing with local partner businesses (where available)
6. Will students earn a certificate?
Yes. Participants who complete the program receive a Barista Workforce Readiness Certificate to support future job applications.
7. How much does it cost?
Tuition varies based on location and is offered on a sliding scale to ensure accessibility for all families. There is currently no grant funding available.

Yes. We partner with small businesses and workforce development agencies to support students in gaining job experience and employment after graduation.
